Aaron was born in Cranston, Rhode Island. Following graduation from Cranston East High School in 1995, he served in the US Army from 1995 till 2001. He entered into the service as a private and was promoted to the rank of a sergeant in just three years. Most of his time was spent in a specialty platoon, called Infantry Scouts. While he was in the Scouts he trained and competed in the USARAK Winter Games from 1996 through 1998 in Fairbanks, Alaska. Aaron place first place in both the Squad and Team Biathlons for all three years. In 1997 he won the a Battalion Ironman Competition which consisted of a two mile run, push-ups, sit-ups, bench press, pull-ups, rope climb, and six kilometer run with 25 lbs in a back pack. Later that year Aaron and the Scout Platoon trekked over 100 miles in four days on foot along the Alaskan Pipeline. Other highlights from Aaron’s military career include Airborne School, Air Assault School, Expert Infantry Badge, Infantry Company Course, and traveling to the Middle East and over parts of North America. During his tour in Alaska, he met Tammie, his wife of eight years who was from Damascus, Arkansas. As Associate Director of the Fitness center, Aaron supervises and trains testing staff that conduct our fitness assessments, conducts clinics and training for student workers and our members, performs fitness assessments for our members, and implements programming at UCA that promotes a healthy lifestyle. His lives by the motto, “Lead by Example”.
