Mauricio Silerio – “Los Demonios de mi Tierra (Demons of this Land)”
In collaboration with the Mexican Consulate in Little Rock, the University of Central Arkansas’ Department of Art and the International Engagement Office will host an art reception Friday, October 19 from 5-7 p.m. at UCA Downtown in Conway. Mauricio Silerio’s art exhibit, “Los Demonios de mi Tierra (Demons of this Land),” will be on display.
The exhibition will feature a series of twenty photographs inspired by traditional Mexican legends and culture, such as characters, games, crafts and artists. The images have been digitally captured underwater and manipulated via computer. The aim of this exhibition is to explore universal concepts that can be understood by any audience, even those who do not share Mexican origin or have an in-depth knowledge of the culture.
Silerio, born in Queretaro, Mexico, has studied courses in painting, drawing, engraving, writing and photography in institutes of the state of Guanajuato and Romania. He has displayed more than 50 exhibitions in Mexico, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Serbia, Cuba, the United States and Costa Rica, as well as more than 45 collective exhibitions in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Italy, Spain, Holland, Canada, Cuba, Malaysia and Romania.
Silerio’s art will be available for viewing in the UCA Downtown gallery until November 16th. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from noon-5 p.m. and closed for private events. The public is welcome to attend the reception and refreshments will be served.
EXPOSICIÓN DE ARTE DE MAURICIO SILERIO EN EL CENTRO DE LA UCA
En colaboración con el Consulado de México en Little Rock, el Departamento de Arte de la Universidad de Arkansas Central y la Oficina de Participación Internacional, organizarán una recepción de arte el viernes 19 de octubre de 5pm a 7pm en UCA Downtown en Conway. La exhibición de arte de Mauricio Silerio, “Los Demonios de mi Tierra”, estará en exhibición.
La exposición presentará una serie de veinte fotografías inspiradas en leyendas tradicionales y cultura mexicana; tales como personajes, juegos, manualidades y artistas. Las imágenes han sido capturadas digitalmente bajo el agua y manipuladas mediante computadora. El objetivo de esta exposición es explorar conceptos universales que puedan ser comprendidos por cualquier público, incluso aquellos que no comparten el origen mexicano o tienen un conocimiento profundo de la cultura.
Silerio, nacido en Querétaro, México, ha estudiado cursos de pintura, dibujo, grabado, escritura y fotografía en institutos del estado de Guanajuato y Rumania. Ha exhibido más de 50 exposiciones en México, Rumania, Hungría, Austria, Serbia, Cuba, Estados Unidos y Costa Rica. Así como más de 45 exposiciones colectivas en México, Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Italia, España, Holanda, Canadá, Cuba, Malasia y Rumanía.
Las obras de arte de Silerio estarán expuestas para apreciarse en la galería de UCA Downtown hasta el día 16 de noviembre. Los horarios de la galería son de lunes a viernes de 12pm a 5pm. El público es bienvenido. Se servirán refrescos.
