Mission

The Child Study Center is an integral part of the early childhood teacher education program at UCA. It offers a site where exemplary practices can be modeled for teacher candidates and serves as a valuable preschool experience for children in the community.

Curriculum

The Child Study Center offers a hands-on, developmental approach to early childhood education that strives to meet the needs of the whole child, including cognitive, physical, and social/emotional development. Its practices are backed by valuable research. The curriculum is individualized based on specific learning needs of young children in the program.

Faculty/Staff

The Center is directed by Kathy Moore, and its certified teaching staff consists of Ruth Rowell, Hallie Leicht, Jamie Dallas, Brenda Payne, and Debbie Storment.

The Center employs graduate assistants and student workers in the fields of education, psychology, family and consumer sciences, and speech/language pathology.  In addition, several departments across campus offer special services to the Center, including speech and language pathology screenings, occupational therapy screenings, physical education, foreign languages, and others.
