
Joe McGarrity
Professor of Economics
Joseph McGarrity is a Professor in Economics at the University of Central Arkansas. He received his Ph. D from George Mason University. He has won the College of Business Teaching Excellence Award, as well as its Research Excellence award. He is on the Board of Editors for the International Advances in Economic Research (the sister journal of the Atlantic Economic Review). He has published 20 journal articles. His research has appeared in the Journal of Law and Economics, Economic Inquiry, the Southern Economic Journal and Public Choice. He wrote a chapter in a book published by Oxford University Press. His research has been mentioned in The New Yorker Magazine, and he is cited in Dennis Mueller’s Public Choice III, which is widely regarded as the definitive guide to the subject. His work has also been cited by professors from Yale and Harvard. He has written a textbook for a one semester course in economics that targets non-majors. The textbook should be available nationally in about a year.
