Charles Bane: Personal Profile
Dr. Bane teaches courses in literature and pedagogy in the University of Central Arkansas English Department.
He has lived in numerous places all over the country and has worked variously as a country music disc jockey, an oil refinery demolition specialist, a movie critic, and an eighth-grade English teacher. Along the way, he managed to earn an Associate of Arts degree in Film, a Bachelor of Science in English Education, and a Master of Arts in English with a specialization in American Literature. He earned his doctorate in Twentieth Century Literature and Film with a minor in Comparative Literature from LSU in 2006. He now lives with his wife, Paulette, and his three children, Ericka, Katherine, and Geoffrey, in Conway.
His book, A Primer of the Novel [co-authored with David Madden and Sean M. Flory] was published in 2006, and an article, "The Art of War (Films): Stanley Kubrick's Fear and Desire and Paths of Glory," was published in 2008 in the collection Stanley Kubrick: Essays on his Films and Legacy.
