Quotes from Interns
"Overall, my internship with the Environmental Division of the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department has been a wonderful learning experience. I have had a chance to spend time in the field with someone very knowledgeable about wetlands and forests. I was also able to broaden my GIS skills by learning to work with GeoMedia. I feel that all of the skills and knowledge that I have gained during this internship will be a great asset to me as I begin a new career." - Justin Fultz
"My time at the Arkansas Geographic Information Office has been a great learning experience. My geocoding skills have increased greatly. My interpersonal skills at the professional level have also improved. This internship has also allowed me to gain more confidence in myself as a geographer and a GIS analyst/technician." - Robert Rhyne
"The Nature Conservancy of Arkansas has given me a great opportunity, and hopefully, opened the door for my career. Overall, it has been a wonderful experience that has opened my eyes to how things are done in non-profit conservation, and most of all, given me real-world experiences in the field I have studied for the past few years." - Matthew Bailey
Benefits of Geography Internships
The Geography Internship Program is designed to provide the student (intern) with the opportunity to gain valuable professionally-related work experience while applying his/her learned skills. This on-the-job work experience provides students the opportunity to strengthen their resume while gaining either 3, or up to 6, hours of upper division credit in geography.
