Membership Requirements for NPHC

Go Greek Information Night

Each fall, the Office of Student Life hosts “Go Greek Information Night” which showcases all the fraternities and sororities on campus. This is where we answer your questions about joining a Greek organization.  If you want to know about "Rush," or  "Intake"......be there!

"Go Greek  Information Night"  will be  Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in the Student Center Ballroom at 5:00pm.  This event is open to any student interested in Greek Life.

(Mandatory for prospective NPHC aspirants)

Membership in NPHC organizations extends beyond the college experience. Upon initiation, individuals accept a lifetime commitment to the goals and objectives of their respective organizations. Members develop many close bonds and friendships that are often unbreakable and maintained throughout their lives.

Undergraduate students who wish to become a member of an NPHC chapter must meet specific membership qualifications. These standards include academic achievement (see chart below), community service, and good character. Such requirements are designed to promote the building of strong and effective chapters.

• The process for membership is referred to as “Intake.”  NPHC organizations do not have a pledge process, they have a “Membership Intake”.

• Students who are on disciplinary probation may not participate in an intake process.

• Transitional courses (i.e. university college courses, developmental course) do not apply towards college credit hours and will not be considered as meeting required hours for Greek membership.

• Each affiliate organization will implement its own membership intake process.

• The chart below lists the minimal requirements to be considered for membership.  Meeting these requirements does not guarantee membership.

To learn more about NPHC organizations, interested students are encouraged to research their national chapter web sites.  The chapter names below are linked to the national web sites.
