Welcome to the University of Central Arkansas! We are so glad you are enjoying your time at UCA and are considering sorority recruitment! The Greek community at UCA is very active and one of the strongest in the country. UCA is home to five National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities; many of these chapters achieve national recognition in scholarship, community service, programming, and overall chapter development.
The UCA College Panhellenic Council is the local governing body that oversees the five NPC sororities on campus. The Council is composed of two representatives from each of the five sororities to make a council of ten individuals. The function of Panhellenic is to foster a cooperative spirit among the sororities on campus, to educate the sororities on the UNANIMOUS AGREEMENTS of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) and enforce the agreements. The Council members meet weekly to work as a unified group to ensure Greek Life is associated with a positive image.
The UCA College Panhellenic Council is excited that you are interested in Greek Life and the prospect it holds for you! To learn more about what Greek Life can offer you, please explore our site. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at ucapanhellenic@hotmail.com. Enjoy your summer and we hope to see you at Go Greek Information Night on September 2 at 5pm in the Student Center Ballroom!
The Purposes of the UCA Panhellenic Council are:
- To maintain the standard of fraternity life at a high level and to facilitate the development of the interfraternal relationships at the University of Central Arkansas.
- To encourage academic achievement and promote the scholarship of all sorority members.
- To cooperate with University administration toward the achievement of high academic and social standards.
- To establish and facilitate cooperation between women’s fraternities regarding recruitment and the new member process on campus.
The Panhellenic Creed
We, as Undergraduate Members of women’s fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving to the best of our ability, our college community. Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities.
We, as Fraternity Women, stand for service through the development of character inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life. The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tent by which we strive.
University of Central Arkansas Panhellenic Association
Code of Ethics
The purpose of the UCA Panhellenic Association “Code of Ethics” is to promote social consciousness and a harmonious environment of mutual respect, trust, cooperation, and friendship at all times, especially during the recruitment period.
As members of the Panhellenic Association, we will strive to uphold the reputation of each sorority member and each chapter belonging to Panhellenic. In working toward this, we will: speak highly of all members of the UCA Greek community, treat Panhellenic sisters and non-Greeks as we would have them treat us, and at all times, avoid making derogatory remarks about other sororities and chapter members. In case of Panhellenic difficulties, all chapters shall do their utmost to restore harmony within our community and prevent publicity on Panhellenic matters which are not properly the concern of non-members.
As members of the Panhellenic Association, we will respect and obey they letter and the spirit of all National Panhellenic Conference UNANIMOUS AGREEMENTS and the UCA Panhellenic Rush Rules.
As members of the Panhellenic Association, we will hold each other in high regard and hold one another accountable for behavior that is inconsistent with our expected standards of conduct. We will do so by being knowledgeable about these expectations, voicing concerns to the leadership within our own chapter when we perceive a problem and trusting them to address the situation appropriately with open-mindedness, gentleness, maturity, and courtesy.
At all times, we will affirm and live by these ethical standards which are consistent with the ideals stated in The Panhellenic Creed. By doing this, we will be “furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities” and doing all that we can to encourage successful membership recruitment for all Panhellenic member groups.
