Residential Colleges

We are so glad you have chosen a Residential College as your first home away from home. The old saying "The end depends upon the beginning" is very true. What you do and who you become your freshman year will shape your entire college career. We want to help you make all the right choices and stay on the path to graduation. Housing & Residence Life is committed to your success and your continued learning outside the classroom.

This page will provide you with some common questions and information that will help you make a better decision as to which Residential College is right for you. You can also access the Residential College website for more information.

  • UCA Housing & Residence Life along with the Undergraduate Studies Office currently offer three Residential College options: Hughes, State, & Short/Denney. All three Residential Colleges are open to both men and women with private wings in the building and shared common spaces.
  • All three Residential Colleges offer the standard Residence Life staff which includes a Resident Assistant on each floor, a Residence Coordinator who supervises the daily operation of the building, and an Area Coordinator who is a full time professional that oversees several buildings. In addition to the Residence Life Staff each Residential College has a live-in faculty member who teaches classes in the building and a peer mentor staff.
  • The application process for the Residential Colleges is a two step process. Students must complete the Housing & Residence Life Application, Lease and pay the $100.00 deposit. Students also must complete the Residential College Application and complete an essay. The Housing & Residence Life Application should be turned into the Housing & Residence Life Office located in Bernard Hall Suite 201 or faxed to 501-450-5374. The Residential College Application should be turned into the Undergraduate Studies Office located in Harrin Hall Suite 200 or submitted online.
  • Students are chosen to participate in a Residential College by the Undergraduate Studies Office based on their essay and application criteria. Undergraduate Studies then notifies Housing & Residence Life and we assign students to specific rooms and provide roommate information.
