POSITION AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The University of Central Arkansas is seeking applicants for an Assistant / Associate Professor, Painting. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position, starting August 2008. Teaching responsibilities are three classes per semester. Other duties include directing advanced undergraduate research, advising, committee work, and service. The salary is competitive for qualified candidate. Required qualifications include an MFA in studio art with an emphasis in painting, and an accomplished record of exhibition. Also required is a minimum of three years teaching experience at the college/ university level, as well as the ability to teach foundations courses and art appreciation courses if needed. Preferred qualifications include a desirable candidate with considerable experience with a wide array of painting techniques and philosophies, encompassing both traditional and contemporary ideologies. The candidate should establish a balance between historical and current painting practices via consistent and relevant dialogue with students, including appropriate applications and research. Additionally, the candidate should have the experience and aptitude for teaching figurative, non-objective, and observational painting and drawing.

Application Process: Submit a letter of application, artist statement, philosophy of teaching, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation,. Include slides or digital images of 20 examples of your own work as well as 20 images of work of your students. Fi sending slides, provide an inventory sheet. If sending digital, provide a hardcopy of thumbnail images and include inventory sheet with label information and corresponding file name to images on CD/DVD. All digital images should be JPG format, 300 DPI or under, 10 MB per image or under, clearly labeled in the file name, and must be PC and Mac compatible. If sending motion files, files must be in Quicktime or Mac compatible. Indicate if attending CAA Conference.
