Secretary II, Department of English. Grade 13 Duties: Assist chair with class schedule; assist students with online registration; make preparations for meetings and reports; prepare and follow progress for purchase orders, travel requests and reimbursements, book orders and other items as needed; help supervise graduate assistants on assigned tasks. Answer phone, greet and assist visitors and callers; maintain supplies inventory and office equipment; maintain departmental files in both hard-copy and electronic form. Monitor departmental budget.

 

SKILLS NEEDED:  The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of specialized training in the secretarial science field; plus three years of secretarial experience; other job related educaiton and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Qualifications Review Committee.

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and other programs and ability to learn new programs; excellent command of English (spelling, grammar and punctuation), written and verbal communication. Ability to relate well to students and faculty; ability to make recommendations on administrative needs.
