ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR AND CHAIR OF PSYCHOLOGY AND COUNSELING
JOB DESCRIPTION: The chair reports to the Dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences and has overall responsibilities for the Department with 20 full-time and several adjunct faculty. The Department administers both undergraduate and nationally-accredited masters and doctoral programs in School Psychology and Counseling Psychology. Approximately 340 students are enrolled at the undergraduate level and 96 students at the graduate level. More information about the department can be found at: http://www.uca.edu/psychology. The chair will: 1) provide effective leadership in areas related to personnel, budget and program development; 2) encourage excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service; 3) manage the various facilities and staff of the Department.
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in Psychology and eligibility for rank of associate professor or professor. Prior administrative experience is preferred. The successful applicant will also present evidence of:
• exceptional skills in communication, interpersonal relations, and personnel management;
• ability to work with university and off-campus constituencies;
• long-range planning skills and a visionary perspective of Psychology and related fields;
• effectiveness in teaching, scholarship, and grantsmanship;
• competence in financial management and fund-raising;
• regional or national prominence as a leader in the profession.
