Institutional Research
Common Data Set
The Common Data Set (CDS) was developed in a collaborative effort between publishers and the educational community in order to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to publishers and to reduce the reporting burden on institutions. Thus, the CDS is a collection of standard data items and definitions that are utilized by the higher education community and by publishers. Many publishers that request data from colleges and universities use CDS data items as a part of their surveys.
The UCA Office of Institutional Research provides the information contained in the CDS to the following college guides and surveys:
- ACT College Planning/Search Book
- Chronicle Guidance Publications
- The College Board Annual Survey of Colleges
- Peterson's Annual Survey of Undergraduate Institutions
- U.S. News and World Report: America's Best Colleges
- The Princeton Review
- College View
- Barron's Profiles of American Colleges
- Chronicle Guidance Publications
