Children's Literature Collection

The Children's Literature Collection serves as a resource and model for students who plan careers as media specialists, librarians, teachers, or as practioners in other child oriented fields. The collection also provides services to the UCA community in general.

The Children's Literature Collection is located on the second floor of Torreyson Library and is available whenever the Library is open.

How do I find children’s books in the Library Catalog?

  • Go to Advanced Word Search in the Library Catalog.
  • Type in a keyword, such as autumn fiction.
  • Under location, select Children's Literature, Children's Award Books, or Children's Lit Reference.
  • The search may be further enhanced by language, publisher, and date.

What subject terms do I use to find …. ?

  • Stories told with pictures and no words use “stories without words”
  • Books written for beginning readers use “easy reader”
  • Frequently requested holiday books use “Halloween stories”, “Christmas stories”, “Easter stories” or “Valentines Day fiction”.
  • Funny stories use “Humorous stories”.
