Completed in 1919 as the Administration Building, it was renamed Main Hall in 1963 and has been an office and classroom building since that time. Main Hall was the third building built on campus and dominates the center of campus from a slight elevation at the head of Alumni Circle.

Ida Waldran Auditorium was added to Main Hall in 1937. The auditorium is named for a longtime professor of English and dean of women who served 1913 until her death in 1936. The auditorium seats 1,500 for assemblies, musical, and dramatic productions.
