Personal Bio:
Assistant Professor Heo earned a PhD in mass communication from Pennsylvania State University and a MA in telecommunications from Michigan State University.
Professor Heo joined the department's faculty in 2001. He teaches courses in communication theory, research methods, and media effects. His research interests include the social/psychological effects of new media, problematic-Internet-use, and web advertising effects. Some of his research papers and writings appeared in several venues, including the Encyclopedia of Children, Adolescents, and the Media and the precedings of the American Advertising Association. His most recent works are under reviews for publication consideration in Communication Research, Media Psychology, Advertising Research, and Journal of Visual Communication.
In addition to his teaching and research, he currently serves as a research paper reviewer for the International Communication Association (ICA) and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). Professor He also is also the department’s curriculum committee chair and will serve as the coordinator of undergraduate studies in Mass Communication Research program.
