A Cappella Mafia joins Ball in the House for Reynolds Concerts

Ball in the House - five guys, five mouths. That?s it. They have performed with such stars as Cher, Jessica Simpson, The Temptations, and many more. They can even be heard on national TV and radio as the voice behind the Cool Whip commercials.

Ball in the House is a tour de force of a cappella vocal sound that must be heard and seen to be believed. The group will perform with UCA's own A Capella Mafia at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 8 at Reynolds Performance Hall.

Tickets for the performances are available now. Tickets are free for UCA students, faculty, and staff. Contact the box office for more information (in Conway) 450-3265 or toll free from anywhere in Arkansas at 1-866-810-0012. UCA students must present their UCA I.D. at the Box Office to secure their free tickets. Box Office hours are 10 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.

Rotaract Club to host World AIDS Day event

The Rotaract Club of the University of Central Arkansas will host its 4th World AIDS Day event on Dec. 1. Members of Rotaract will distribute red ribbons and other awareness materials throughout the day.

The event will continue in rooms 5a and 5b in Brewer-Hegeman from 6-8 p.m. Speakers will address this year?s theme, ?Accountability.? A panel discussion will follow and refreshments will be served.

The Rotaract Club of UCA is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, international service organization for young adults sponsored by the Conway Morning and Noon Rotary clubs. It is designed to provide an avenue for college students to fulfill Rotary International's motto, "Service above Self." There are over 163,000 members in some 7,088 Rotaract clubs in 151 countries. Rotaract clubs around the world work in their communities to provide needed humanitarian services and to increase international understanding.

Conway Symphony Orchestra holiday concert at Reynolds

Conway Symphony Orchestra presents its annual holiday concert, ?A Conway Christmas,? on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. As a special offer, tickets are only $10 each for groups of 10 or more. Tickets for children and UCA faculty, staff and students are only $5.

Conducted by Israel Getzov, Music Director, ?A Conway Christmas ? features over 70 talented musicians playing both popular and classical music, all with a holiday theme. The orchestra will be joined by UCA?s Dixieland Band, playing Christmas music with a New Orleans spin. Virtuoso violinist Micah Ramchandani of Conway will solo on Vivaldi?s ?Winter? from The Four Seasons, accompanied by poetry originally written for the piece. The concert will also include a new arrangement of Stille Nacht by Manheim Steamroller, and Christmas classics from Tchaikovsky?s Nutcracker. The audience will be invited to sing along with traditional Christmas favorites for a grand finale, concluding with an appearance by Santa himself.

?A Conway Christmas? will be held at Reynolds Performance Hall on the UCA campus and is sponsored by Target. For tickets, call 501-450-3265 or 1-866-810-0012.

The Department of History and the College of Liberal Arts of the University of Central Arkansas announce the screening of ?The Lost Year?, a documentary on Sunday, November 19 at 3 p.m. in Reynolds Performance Hall on the UCA campus.
