International Week 2007 events scheduled

The University of Central Arkansas Office of International Programs has scheduled a host of events for International Week 2007, "New Century, Global Vision," Feb. 1-9.

All events are free to the UCA campus and Conway community except the International Programs Banquet and the Soweto Gospel Choir.

Tickets for the International Programs Banquet are $10 per student and $20 for faculty/staff and community members. Tickets may be purchased from Kerry Nichols in the Office of International Programs, Torreyson Library Room 304. Tickets to the banquet are limited this year due to our increasing international enrollment, so purchase them as soon as possible to enjoy this great cultural night.

Tickets for the Soweto Choir performance may be purchased through UCA Ticket Central at www.uca.edu/tickets or by calling toll free 1-866-810-0012.

UCA to host Mental Health Professional Development Workshop Series

The University of Central Arkansas will host the second annual Counseling and Psychology Students (CAPS) professional development workshop series, ?Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with Your Most Difficult Cases,? presented by Dr. Kelly G. Wilson on Friday, March 23 at UCA.

Study Abroad Scholarship Available

The Department of World Languages is taking applications for the Robert and Carol Adcock Scholarship program for study abroad.

These awards are given to UCA students minoring or majoring in a foreign language. Preference will be given to those planning to teach. Recipients must be enrolled in an academic course of study during the time of their travel. Scholarships may be awarded for a summer, semester for full academic year program.

To get an application form, visit www.uca.edu/wlan and click on "Adcock Scholarships." Applications are also available in the departmental office. The deadline for scholarship applicants is Feb. 28.

Students kickoff UCA centennial celebration with fireworks display

University of Central Arkansas students kicked off the school?s centennial year celebration with a bang.

Fireworks danced in the sky above Estes Stadium Thursday as part of a student-organized centennial celebration kick-off event prior to the UCA Bears basketball game against Southeastern Louisiana.

UCA Centennial Calendars Available

A keepsake, 12-month calendar celebrating the university?s centennial anniversary is available for purchase in the UCA Bookstore, located in the Student Center, while supplies last.

The calendars are $10 each and feature stunning current photography highlighting the UCA campus as well as historical photos and information.

A Celebration for Sweethearts

The University of Central Arkansas Division of Academic Outreach and Classicfare Catering are announcing the Only You 2007 Valentine?s Day Celebration for Sweethearts. Each year UCA hosts this event for the community. This year?s theme is romance from the 1950s and ?60s .

Classicfare has arranged a special menu for the evening and the Academic Outreach staff has planned the atmosphere and ambiance for a night to remember. A live band will be performing the hits from the era that will keep the crowd rockin? and boppin? all night.

The event is Wednesday, February 14, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. in McCastlain Hall on the beautiful campus of UCA. A lucky couple has the chance to win two tickets to the Dick Clark Theatre in Branson, Mo. Tickets are just $59 per couple and groups are welcome. UCA to Host Insurance Education Institute for Teachers

The University of Central Arkansas has announced the 2007 Insurance Education Institute. The institute is designed for junior high and high school teachers who teach a course leading to a high school diploma. Funding is provided by the Insurance Education Institute and covers the costs of registration, graduate credit, on-campus room and board and classroom materials for individuals selected to attend the institute.

UCA Gearing Up for 2007 High School Football Coaches Clinic

The University of Central Arkansas has announced the 8th Annual High School Football Coaches Clinic. The clinic is designed for high school coaches who desire to learn ways to enhance their football coaching skills and methodologies.

Soweto Gospel Choir Kicks Off U.S. Tour at UCA February 1 & 2

Soweto Gospel Choir kicks off its third U.S. tour with three performances at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, February 1 & 2. Recently nominated for a Grammy award as Best Traditional World Music Album for its CD ?Blessed!,? Soweto Gospel Choir is introducing its third CD ?African Spirit? on this three-month North American tour.
