BY-LAWS OF THE U.C.A. BAND ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
ARTICLE I: THE NAME
This organization shall be known as the U.C.A. Band Alumni Association
of UCA Alumni Association.
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the welfare of
alumni and friends of the University of Central Arkansas and to perpetuate
and broaden the ties between the University and its constituency members
by:
A. keeping an informed membership;
B. stimulating an active interest in the school programs;
C. perpetuating the contacts of former students and graduates with
each other, with parents of past and present students and with other
close friends of the school;
D. encouraging active participation in projects designed to enhance
that closeness and allow it to provide mutual benefits for both the
University and its constituents; and
E. providing a channel for input and feedback of information and responses
between the institution and its closest source of ongoing support.
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
The membership shall consist of former members of the U.C.A. Band.
ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS
The officers of this association shall be president, vice-president,
secretary; treasurer, and historian. The duties of each of these officers
shall be those commonly incumbent upon such officers in similar organizations.
All officers shall serve for a term of 2 years. There shall be six members
of the board serving three-year terms on rotating schedules. Officers
and board members shall be nominated by committee prior to the fall
newsletter. Ballots will be included in the fall mail-out and will be
tabulated prior to homecoming. A faculty liason will represent the association
on the Alumni Organization Council of the University of Central Arkansas
Alumni Association.
ARTICLE VI: MEETINGS
The annual meeting of the association shall be at homecoming of each
year, at which time the newly elected officers will preside. There may
be other called meetings of the officers and board members during the
year.
ARTICLE VII: AMENDMENTS
Amendments to these by-laws may be made at any time, provided that
such amendments have been read and voted upon by a majority of the members
of the association present for the meeting, and accepted by the Executive
Council of the UCA Alumni Association.
ARTICLE VIII: COMMITTEES
All standing and special committees shall be appointed by the president
of the association, or could be determined by a membership vote. The
following will be standing committees:
A. Nominating Committee - To save the association time by determining
those who would/could serve in what capacities, then turning in a slate
of leaders from which members could select.
B. Membership/Communications Committee - To aid in maintaining an
active membership, involving some who are inactive, and incorporating
new, young or "lost" alumni and friends into association programs...in
addition, keeps Alumni Office apprised of membership patterns and updated
information for the alumni list. To provide the association with a telephone
networking system for quick, efficient communication among the membership.
C. Program/Projects/Hospitality Committee - To suggest and arrange
for meeting programs; most meetings will have a program on the agenda
to keep meeting informative, recreational, entertaining or directional,
depending on the program's objectives. To suggest and organize activities
the association may wish to undertake to aid the University in its student
recruitment, public relations or development efforts. To coordinate
all those little things that make an event, project or activity successful.
D. Web Page Committee - To develop and maintain the U.C.A. Band Alumni
web page in coordination with the Director of Bands, the Alumni Director
and the University Web page coordinator.
