Hughes Residential College:
Living Leadership
Hughes Residential College (HRC) was established
in 1997 as Arkansas’ first living and learning community in a public
university. By promoting an educational agenda designed to connect,
liberate, empower, create, and celebrate, students extend learning
beyond the confines of the classroom and become leaders ready to
meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Why Should I Apply
for Hughes Residential College?
Hughes Residential College,
the first and oldest of UCA's well-established Residential Program,
can be characterized by two defining principles: tradition and leadership.
Hughes: A Community
of Leaders
Our theme is "Living Leadership." As a program, we are
committed to identifying and promoting the strengths of each of our
first-year students. We realize that not all leaders stand at
the front of a group. There are as many different roles for a
Leader as there are people in the world. Our mission is to
assist our students in identifying their strengths and helping them
to discover where those strengths will be most beneficial.
Each of our Residential
Colleges provides opportunities for volunteering and/or working in
leadership roles at UCA and in the community of Conway as well.
