Open Sample Submissions Program

Here's how it works.......

If any K-12 teacher at any school in Arkansas is doing an activity with their students in a classroom, where what the students learn would be enhanced by having high-magnification pictures of something related to that activity (such as an organism or some material), then the teacher can contact us about the possibility of obtaining such images.
After arrangements are made, we will acquire the sample, image it on our SEM, and place the images on our SEM Facility website. Then, the teacher and students can download the images at their school or home.
Cost to the teacher? Nothing, thanks to support by The Toyota USA Foundation

A teacher wished to reinforce the importance of hygiene by obtaining images of potential pathogens on objects that her 5th graders were likely to place in their mouths, such as coins, pencil erasers, paper clips, and finger nails. For this teacber we provided the SEM image of fungal filaments from beneath a fingernail that is shown below.
A 5th grade teacher was using a peanut theme across the curriculum all year long. Students studied peanuts in history, grew peanut plants for Mother's Day gifts, and studied peanut structure using the light microscopes available in their classroom. For this teacher we provided the SEM image of a peanut's inner shell that is shown below.
