Jennifer A. Moore, Ph.D., OTR/L
Assistant Professor
Dr. Moore has practiced in occupational therapy for over 26 years; her focus as a practitioner has been in acute physical rehabilitation, work injury rehabilitation, home health, nursing homes, and serving adults in the community with developmental disabilities. Currently, she is designing a successful aging program with older adults with developmental disabilities. Additionally, Dr. Moore co-founded and directs Acting Creates Therapeutic Success (ACTS). This program provides opportunities for those in the community with disabilities to participate in the performing arts. Dr. Moore also collaborates with ARC Arkansas, an organization that promotes independence in adults with developmental disabilities, to hold a performing arts camp each summer.
Dr. Moore has been a faculty member at the University of Central Arkansas since 1994. Her primary teaching areas include research and community-based practice. In addition to teaching and advising, she has published research related to the Theory of Occupational Adaptation with persons who are homeless and those who have suffered a stroke. She is conducting research (along with Dr. Acre) regarding aging of adults with developmental disabilities; the preliminary results from this study have been disseminated at the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Annual Conference. Dr. Moore co-authored a grant with Dr. Mankey to supervise occupational therapy students as they educated pre-school children about brain injury prevention. Additionally, she has collaborated with the American Occupational Therapy Foundation to conduct and disseminate research related to the teaching and learning process. She is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, American Society on Aging, and the Arkansas Occupational Therapy Association. She serves as the Pi Theta Epsilon (occupational therapy honor society) faculty advisor at the University of Central Arkansas.
