Community Education

Community Education assists in fulfilling a vital part of the University’s mission by educating the citizens of Conway and surrounding communities through non-credit, personal enrichment courses that are available to the public during the fall and spring semesters.

The curriculum of community education is selected based on popular demand, technological changes, contemporary issues, healthy living topics and fitness training.  Course offerings include:  Research Your Family History; Sites and Sounds of China; Choose to Lose; Tai Chi; and Pilates.  All of the courses are well thought out, structured and scheduled with mature students in mind.  Each course includes careful planning to accommodate persons who may have physical challenges.

The Community Education faculty is chosen according to their credentials, professional experiences and recognized achievements in their fields of study.  Community Education takes pride in that its faculty comes from UCA,
Hendrix College and the communities of central Arkansas.  Some courses are held off campus to accommodate course requirements and/or students’ convenience.  Additionally, we strive to appeal to the diversity found within the local population.  We are excited that these big-hearted communities are motivated to learn from each other.

Some courses include:

  • Yoga for Everyone
  • American Red Cross: Lifeguard Certification
  • Sewing 101
  • Photography
  • Social Dancing
  • The Night Sky
  • Understanding Computers
