Extended Studies Program
Extended Studies at UCA
The Office of Extended Studies offers (6) month, “open enrollment” courses to give the student a longer time frame in which to complete a course. Student must spend a minimum of eight (8) weeks to complete a course. Extended study six-month courses are not eligible for financial aid.
If a student takes an Extended Study (open enrollment) course, it will prevent their name from being included on the Dean's List (or having your scholarship reinstated). Extended study courses can also affect receipt of a presidential scholarship if you are trying to count the credit hours toward eligibility.
Open Enrollment
Students may enroll in an open enrollment course at any time during the Fall, Spring, and Ten (10) week semesters prior to the last eight weeks of class when the university is open for business. Students have six-months to complete an open enrollment course. The six months period begins on the day the student’s application for Extended Study is processed. Open enrollment courses are designed for both degree and non-degree seeking students. Students who choose to take open enrollment extended studies courses must NOT rely on institutional scholarships or financial aid to cover the cost of the course. Extended study courses started and/or completed toward the end of a semester may not show on the student’s transcript during that semester.
Open Enrollment Admission Process
FOR ADMISSION TO UCA (from the Office of Admissions):
You must be admitted to UCA before you can take extended study online courses.
You must have at least a 2.0 GPA to be admissible to UCA.
We require a Letter of Good Standing, including GPA, from your current institution. When requesting a Letter of Good Standing, be sure that you tell them to provide your GPA.
