Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Theology and Energy

February 20-21, 2009

Sponsored by: Honors College, Department of Philosophy and Religion, Humanities and World Cultures Institute, and College of Liberal Arts at UCA; Steel Center at Hendrix College; and the American Academy of Religion.

This conference will engage the important interdisciplinary topic of energy through the lens of current theological and philosophical frameworks. Energy is a vital topic today, both practically as fossil fuel reserves become scarcer and theoretically in terms of cosmological dark energy, and this idea creates a context for some stimulating discussions and exchanges. Process theology and philosophy, postmodern theology and Continental philosophy, cultural theory, and cutting-edge work at the intersection of these fields with other disciplines will be emphasized in the presentations and discussions. Catherine Keller of Drew University, a renowned eco-feminist process theologian, will present the keynote address.
