Role in the General Education Program at UCA
General Psychology is a General Education elective that fulfills the Behavioral and Social Sciences Area Objectives. These objectives are: (1) to be able to use a variety of theories to explain human behavior; (2) to be able to describe how the study of human behavior is founded on empirical/scientific observation; and (3) to be able to recognize the effects of the environment on individual behavior. This course also fulfills the General Education Information and Computer Literacy Skill Objectives. After this course, students will be able to locate, evaluate, communicate, and ethically use information using computer technology. Furthermore, this course fulfills the General Education Attitudes/Values Objectives by exposing and encouraging students to explore the diversity that defines many human differences and the connections that suggest common human concerns, as well as encouraging students to explore value-systems and to recognize the roles value-systems play in human life and in intellectual inquiry.
