SPIN - (Sponsored Programs Information Network) is a searchable database of funding opportunities for "Research and development, international projects, collaborative projects, fellowships, academic programs, exchange programs, travel, endowments, equipment, outreach and service delivery projects, and the list goes on..." SPIN is an opportunity to perform an unlimited number of custom searches in minutes over the Web from the convenience of your own office. SPIN workshops are offered each semester and once in the summer.

SMARTS - (SPIN Matching and Researcher Transmittal System) is an electronic matching and funding opportunity notification system. It provides information targeted to faculty members based on both their individual profiles and research interests. This information is automatically sent to the faculty member directly through e-mail on a daily to a weekly basis. SMARTS workshops are offered each semester and once in the summer.

SURF applications due to Sponsored Programs Office (Torreyson West Room 324) for a final proof/edit (no signatures required at this time).

Proofed/edited applications may be picked up by investigators on this date so final revisions can be made.
October 27, 2008

no later than 3:00pm
Final revised applications due into SPO with signatures of mentor, department chair, and college dean on the Transmittal Form (also human subjects, animal subjects, or radiation safety approval). SPO will obtain the rest of the signatures, will copy and package the applications.
October 31, 2008

SPO will deliver applications to the ADHE office in Little Rock.
SURF WORKSHOP

October 1, 2008
(Wednesday)
3:00pm in BBA 303

Workshop will focus on preparing the proposal with an emphasis on compliance with the guidelines.

PROGRAM CHANGES FOR 2008:

  1. Applicants only need to send an original and one copy;
  2. Mentor's vita and student's resume cannot exceed 2 pages;
  3. The proposal description cannot exceed 5 double-spaced pages; and,
  4. The Arkansas Science & Technology Authority has received the National
    Science Foundation (NSF) EPSCoR Grant. A selected number of SURF
    recipients in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering will received the
    EPSCoR Grant.
