Welcome to the Department of Teaching and Learning

Mission Statement

The Department of Teaching and Learning (T&L) is committed to developing educators who care deeply about learners, who reflect on their practice to make sound decisions, who communicate effectively with all constituents, and who meaningfully challenge learners and themselves through high expectations.

The T&L Department houses two undergraduate programs and three graduate programs. At the undergraduate level, the middle level program for grades 4-8 (Math/Science or Language Arts/Social Studies) and the business/marketing technology education (BMTE) program reside in the T&L department. In addition, department faculty provide instruction in EDUC 1220 and EDUC 1300 as well as professional education courses for secondary education majors (e.g., MSIT 4305). Graduate level programs include master’s degrees in Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning (ASTL), Library Media and Information Technologies (LIBM), and Training Systems (MSTS).

We invite you to visit the department located in Mashburn 104. It is the desire of T&L faculty to “make a difference” as we model reflective decision-making and collaboration. Committed to excellence in teaching, the T&L Department aims to impact education positively.
