Pre-K Early Literacy Learning in Arkansas (PreK ELLA)
Pre-K Early Literacy Learning in Arkansas (PreK ELLA) is a professional development opportunity for preschool teachers to advance teacher understanding of how three to five year old children develop language and literary skills and why it is important that children develop these skills, present tools and techniques teachers can use in their classrooms to help children develop language and literacy skills they will need to become proficient readers and writers, transfer Pre-K ELLA teacher training into children's everyday classroom experiences and activities, assist teachers in developing strategies for involving families and their children in language and literacy experiences at home, and make language and literacy experiences enjoyable for teachers, children and their families.This training offers teachers 30 hours of FREE specialized training, provides training experiences that promote literacy skills for children ages three to five, FREE participant manual and other resources, opportunity for professional development and interaction with other teachers of three to five year olds and a Certificate of Completion.
Dr. Tammy Benson, assistant professor of early childhood education coordinates and teaches this training in Mashburn 103 at the University of Central Arkansas. The spring class is full but new classes for summer and fall will be announced soon. For more information, contact tammyb@uca.edu.
