Professional Development Series 2009-2010

Listed below are Eleven seminars to assist in your development as a professional on the UCA campus. These seminars are open to all faculty and staff on campus. Individuals who attend a minimum of four (4) seminars will receive at the end of the spring semester a UCA T-shirt and participation certificate. Registration will begin August 17, 2009.

September 9 - Campus Safety

You have an irate parent or student in your office/classroom. How can you calm the person down? How can you protect yourself physically? What are signs that you can look for in a volatile situation? Lt. Swindle will discuss these topics in an informative and practical manner. Lunch Provided

October 5 - Understanding UCA Minority Populations

UCA has a diverse student body which includes African American, Hispanic, American Indian, and Asian/Pacific Islander ethnicities. Ms. McMurray will discuss the minority populations on our campus and provide helpful information as we teach, serve and interact with them .Lunch provided

February 10 - New Professional Seminar
8:30 – 4:00 p.m.

This city-wide seminar is for new professionals with five years or less in the workforce or individuals currently working on graduate degrees and soon to enter the workforce. The program will be conducted in small groups with experienced mentors facilitating. The seminar is sponsored by UCA Alumni Services, UCA University Training, and Conway Young Professionals Association. A small fee will be charged for the program. Lunch Provided

February 18 - Teambuilders

Do you need a theme for a program? Icebreakers for a staff meeting or student organization? This seminar will include tips on how to get your creative juices flowing and examples of icebreakers/teambuilders to use with fellow employees or students. Lunch Provided

March 15 - Stress Management

Does this seminar even need an explanation? Reesa will provide information on dealing with the stress in our lives. The participants will participate in creative exercises to release their stress. Lunch Provided

April 9 - Personal & Professional Goals
