Handling Paperwork

Filling out forms is a big part of college life. Be sure to take the necessary time to help your student complete any required forms, whether in person or on-line. Your student may be overwhelmed by all the options: courses, majors, schedules, professors, student organizations, etc. Students are used to high school, where most decisions are made for them and so they can feel overwhelmed and confused, which can lead to bad decisions. Be aware that they may need your help and familiarize yourself with the options and important dates to remember. Some students may not need help, but parents can still assist by keeping a check list of reminders: what needs to be completed and when, for everything from financial aid to class schedules.
