Alternates to Graduate School or Careers
For some students, a career immediately following graduation is not the best option. If your student doesn’t have a job waiting or if he or she decides to take some time off while still young, there are many choices that can be fun and still aid in a later career.
- www.peacecorps.gov/ - This is the main website for the Peace Corps. The Peace Corps is not only an enjoyable, educational experience, but a stint in the Corps will also give considerable knowledge that future employers will appreciate.
- www.jesuitvolunteers.org/ - This is the main website for the Jesuit Corps, a Catholic volunteer organization. Again, volunteer work will give graduates further time to mature and teach them important life lessons they may not learn in a traditional job setting.
- www.mercycorps.org/ - This is the main website for Mercy Corps, another volunteer organization.
- www.transitionsabroad.com/ - This website has all the information students could need about volunteering abroad and finding fellowship money to support their time volunteer. Should their volunteer work inspire them to pursue a career helping others, this site also links to job-searching sites.
Graduate School Admittance Tests
If your student decides to obtain a graduate or advanced degree, the following sites will give information about tests they will need to take in order to gain acceptance to graduate programs.
