Career Services/Cooperative Education
Since your students will soon be graduating, career options are probably foremost on their minds. Career Services provides a newsletter to which parents may subscribe through its webpage www.uca.ecu/career that offers communication information which parents may use to assist their students. Subscribing to the newsletter can be a big advantage for parents as it will help them be aware of the career opportunities available to graduates. The newsletter is sent once a month and presents strategies for helping students find suitable jobs and a calendar of activities.
Cooperative Education is an experiential learning activity involving a three-way partnership between the student, University and an employer. These experiences permit students to enhance skills and knowledge obtained in the classroom, solidify career decisions, gain work experience and develop career related networks. Students are paid in many of these experiences. Some experience permit students to earn academic credit through internships. Students may participate in these experiences after they have accumulated 60 semester hours and obtained a 2.5 GPA. The office of Cooperative Education, located in Bernard Hall Room 209, helps eligible UCA students identify opportunities for these experiences. Students are coached on the placement process, complete an application, submit a resume and are placed in an applicant pool.
