Director - Julia Winden Fey

 

Dr. Winden Fey has been at UCA since 1998 and currently serves as both Director of University College and Associate Dean of the Division of Undergraduate Studies. She has also been a Resident Faculty Master in the Residential College Program and an instructor for the Department of Philosophy and Religion. Her educational background includes a BA from Denison University, MA in Theology from Union Theological Seminary (NYC), and a PhD in Religion and Social Ethics with a Certificate in the Study of Women and Men in Society from the University of Southern California.

Deborah Bratton

Mrs. Bratton received her MSE in Mathematics Education from The University of Central Arkansas and has over thirty years teaching experience.  Her primary academic interest is in Developmental Mathematics, particularly Intermediate Algebra in which she teaches at UCA.  Her professional activities include ArkADE, NADE, ACTM, NCTM, MAA and ICTCM.  She previously taught at UCA for four years before serving as director of a tutorial center in a community college for nine years.  She is a member of the Purple Circle and a Life Member and Board Member of the UCA Alumni Association.

Lisa Christman picture

Lisa Christman

Lisa Christman received her MA Degree in Mathematics from the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y.  She has a BS Degree from Lafayette College in Easton, PA. and an Associates Degree from S.U.N.Y. at Alfred, N.Y.  She has experience teaching courses from basic mathematics to calculus, statistics, and discrete mathematics, as well as study skills courses.  Ms. Christman came to UCA from the Washington, D.C. area in the summer of 2001.  While in the Washington area she taught at Marymount University and Georgetown University.  Ms. Christman is active in faculty senate, is a namesake for UCA’s Sophomore Year Experience, and is a member of ArkADE and NADE.

Cindi Edwards picture

Cindi Edwards

Cynthia Edwards received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Central Arkansas in 2001. She continued her education in 2002 and received a Masters of Arts in Math Education. She started teaching in 2003 and continues to teach both at UCA and at UACCM. Currently, she teaches basic algebra, intermediate algebra, College algebra and weekly tutoring of high school students. Though originally from the Chicago area, Cynthia has lived in Arkansas for 20 years. She is a member of ArkADE, an Arkansas developmental education organization.

Rita Fielder

Mrs. Fielder received her BSE and MSE from the University of Central Arkansas and has over 40 years of teaching experience. She previously taught 30 years in public schools along with night classes at UCA. She enjoys teaching the Developmental Education classes of Intermediate Algebra.  Mrs. Fielder enjoys travel and spending time with her great nieces and nephews.

JoKaren Hudson picture

Jo Karen Hudson

Mrs. Hudson received her BSE and MSE from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.  She is a Lecturer II and enjoys teaching Intermediate Algebra.  She has 35 years of teaching experience, which includes 6 years in the public schools.  Mrs. Hudson enjoys traveling, shopping and entertaining family and friends.

Keith Pachlhofer picture

Keith Pachlhofer

Mr. Pachlhofer is a 1998 Graduate of Greenwood High School.  He then went on to Central Baptist College where he received his Associates of Art degree in 2000.  From CBC, he started in at the University of Central Arkansas.  In December of 2001 he graduated with his BSE in Mathematics and in May of 2003 he received his MA in Mathematics Education from UCA.  Keith has hours toward his Ph.D from Oklahoma State University,  He hopes to continue his PhD in the near future.  Keith was married in May of 2004 to Delilah Edwards of Los Angeles, CA.  They live in Conway and love the area.

Mary Wood

Mary Wood has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from UCA (1976) and Master of Science in Pure Mathematics from UCA (1977). She has been teaching at UCA since 1999. Before that, she worked for 21 years as an industry analyst for Entergy Corporation.

Becky Bogoslavsky

Becky Bogoslavsky received her B.A. in journalism from Texas A&M University in 1989. She spent 10 years as an editor at newspapers, including the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, before moving to work for a group of magazines and journals. She received her M.A. in Expository Writing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and has been teaching writing since 2003. She generally teaches Writing 1310 and 1320 and is a member of ARKAde and CCCC.

Elaine Corum picture

Elaine Corum

Mrs. Corum is an instructor of transitional writing and reading in University College.  She holds an A.B. in psychology from the University of Georgia, an M.S. in educational psychology from the University of Tennessee, and an M.A. in liberal studies with a major in rhetoric and writing and a minor in gerontology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.  She co-hosts the KUAR radio show “Tales From the South.”  Her areas of interest and research include death and dying, aging—especially among baby boomers—and writing and its relationship to healing.  She is currently co-editing Tales From the South: Volume I, an anthology of creative non-fiction aired on her radio show.

Shannon Johnson picture

Shannon Johnson

Ms. Johnson received her MLA and BA from Henderson State University and her AA from Garland County Community College.  She is a Lecturer I in the University College and teaches Writing and Reading.  Her specialties arefreshman composition and transitional reading and writing.  Her interests include the hero’s journey, religion/philosophy, creative writing, travel, history, hiking, and gardening.  “Next in importance to freedom and justice is popular education without which neither freedom nor justice can be permanently maintained.”    –James A. Carl Olds picture

Carl Olds

Mr. Olds is a two-time UCA graduate.  He received a BA in English/Political Science from UCA in 1995, left Arkansas to pursue a music career (which, sadly, did not work out), then returned to get a MA in English in 2001 (which DID work out!).  Mr. Olds teaches Transitional Reading and Writing, Writing and Composition, World Literature, Introduction to Poetry, Film Appreciation, and University Studies for the University College, all while trying to raise a family with 2 children, 2 dogs, and 2 fish.  He loves movies, reading, music, and anything he doesn't know how to do yet.  "No man can ride your back if it is not bent." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Adriian Gardner Adrian Gardner

Adriian Gardner received his undergraduate degree in Radio, Television and Film from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Also, he received his MA in Journalism from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. His teaching background includes basic oral communication, mass media and modern society, media law and ethics, print journalism and broadcast journalism. His teaching philosophy is “Teaching is not what I do. Teaching is what I am.” Prior to teaching at UCA, he taught mass communication and journalism courses at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in addition to serving as mass communication program coordinator. Mr. Gardner is very active in several professional organizations and often serves as a guest lecturer, panel discussion participant and discussion leader.

Charles Lemley

Mr. Lemley is a 1965 graduate of Russellville High School. He received his BSE from UCA in 1970 and a MSE degree in 1971. He has taught and coached for thirty-three years. He is married to the former Pam Glenn of Monroe, Louisiana and has three grown children and four grandchildren.  He and his wife live in Russellville and attend the First Assembly of God Church.  He has been selected as a member of the Sports Hall of Fame at Russellville High School and UCA. He has been active in officiating high school and college football, basketball and softball for over 37 years.

Theresa Hitcock

Ms. Hitchcock holds an undergraduate degree from Missouri State University with a Major in English Education. Her hometown is St.Louis.  She is working on a Masters degree at UCA in College Student Personnel Services & Administration. Her Hobbies include  watching sports, walking, reading, cooking, and crafts. She and her husband, Chris, have one son named Alex, and a dog named Kansas.
